About Jim - About Windsurfevolution Jim Collis is an accredited RYA Instructor Trainer for both the adult scheme and the "team15" junior scheme, a professional coach for all levels, and Technique Editor for Windsurf Magazine. As a Coach, Jim started out with Club Vass in 1998 and became the resident "Centre Pro" there in 2001. He also worked out in Venezuela at Club Vass's Caribbean sister school 'Club Margarita' and in Club Vass's newest addition in Egypt, 'Club Dahab'. Jimbo turned fully pro in 2003 with his coaching and now operates all over the world at the best centres in the best locations. As well as abroad Jim coaches a huge amount in the UK, whether down in the south at places like West Wittering, Hayling Island and Bewl Water, or further north at locations such as Hunstanton, Galloway and even the Shetland Islands.  Jim is also well known for his freelance instructor training in the UK and abroad, training instructors at all levels in the RYA's adult and junior schemes. As well as this, Jimbo is involved in selecting and training up new instructor trainers for the RYA. Jim was also heavily embroiled in the production, writing and rolling out of the new adult windsurfing scheme, 'Start', 'Intermediate' and 'Advanced' Windsurfing , and in the new freestyle scheme for the RYA's junior racing initiative, "team15". Last but not least, Jim is Technique Editor for Windsurf Magazine, a fitting accolade to his ability as professional coach. His past articles are available to download from this website. Jim was also Test Editor for Windsurf Magazine until 2009, and so has also been able to trial all the latest equipment with the learner's needs,
whether beginner through to advanced, at the forefront of his mind. An avid fan of the new school freestyle and wave sailing himself, when Jim isn't putting all his efforts into his coaching and instructor training you can always find him with a huge smile on his face doing what he loves and that which he hopes to inspire into others. As well as his massive involvement in the windsurfing industry, Jim is also trained as a BASI Alpine Ski Instructor. Every year Jimbo heads off to the mountains for a few months to teach skiing and to indulge in another of his passions in life! Jim has recently started offering ski tuition courses abroad in Italy. Often described by fellow instructors as
totally dedicated, impeccably professional and having a limitless
supply of enthusiasm, Jimbo thrives on helping his students and
instructor candidates to achieve their goals and feel good about
themselves in the process. |
